Speakers:

Professor David Heymann CBE, Distinguished Fellow, Global Health Programme, Chatham House; Executive Director, Communicable Diseases Cluster, World Health Organization (1998-03)

Dr Olivia Tulloch, CEO, Anthrologica

As the pandemic continues to expand, the prospect of the virus becoming endemic and the economic and societal impact of measures aimed at suppressing it are increasingly felt. The world is entering a new phase of the crisis with countries needing to find ways to successfully live with the virus.

Join us for the third session of the autumn series of interactive webinars on the coronavirus with Professor David Heymann and guest speaker Dr Olivia Tulloch helping us to understand the facts and make sense of the latest developments in the global crisis.

How is the ‘social contract’ playing out in this pandemic? How can governments get their populations on board with response measures? Do increasingly strict controls and enforcement work? Are some types of societies managing the pandemic better than others, and why?

Professor Heymann is a world-leading authority on infectious disease outbreaks. He led the World Health Organization’s response to SARS and has been advising the organization on its response to the coronavirus.

Dr Tulloch is the CEO of Anthrologica, a leading research-based specialist in applied anthropology in global health. In building a strong evidence base, Anthrologica collects, analyses and applies empirical data to inform the design, content and orientation of policies and programmes focusing on the relevance, appropriateness and acceptability of interventions.
